Small But Huge Update [2.4.1.3]


One small step for the player, one giant leap for me.

You may not know this, but I don't really know coding. For the entire GMTK Game Jam when this game was made, I used the drag & drop "coding" simply because that's what I was familiar with. While making the 2.0 update I realised how robust the Game Maker Language was and what I could do with it. So I embarked on a project to convert everything in the game into nothing but GML code. There's not a single drag and drop aspect in this.

This was huge, and also a huge headache, for me. But what does it mean for you as the player? Allow me to give you some updates.

  • Qbi actually has a separate squish animation for moving up so that you don;t see his face flash for 3 frames
  • Loading a game will actually bring you to a brief loading transition, which was made to solve the issue of the level select music not playing upon loading a save
  • Qbi also moves quicker with inputs
  • Fixed a bug where the sound of Tbi units moving would persist after you won a level
  • Fixed a bug where certain objects could be walked on when they shouldn't be

I told you it was small for the player. But it makes updates much easier for me. Now, along with the in game updates I've included something extra in the zip folder: midi files for the entire soundtrack. Feel free to do with those what you want.
